Travelogue theme having problems with Advanced WP Columns

I need help getting the “Advanced WP Columns” plugin functioning correctly with my “Travelogue” theme. My problem is when I create the columns it places the content at the bottom of the page and at the end of the left sidebar leaving a huge blank space between the top of my page and the content I am trying to insert. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. I am not very knowledgeable with CSS or PHP so I am struggling pretty bad.
