Hi,

I just updated the plugin and after that, all my translations for this plugin in the string translations are lost. Not only that, but everything is set to German all of a sudden, even though the root-language of the site is English.

This is a recurring problem. It happened in June as well. We then put all the translations back manually, but I’d prefer to have a permanent fix for the problem.

So today we did an experiment and set the plugin back to it’s default settings. Loo and behold! The translations are back, except for “This website uses cookies to improve your experience. We\’ll assume you\’re ok with this, but you can opt-out if you wish.[cookie_button] [cookie_link]”, which is now always in English.

We using Polylang Pro with 5 languages.

Hi @karen-drost,

Please follow the instruction in the guide which details general string translation by polylang.

You can translate the message bars via String Translation menu. Refer the screenshot.

Hi webtoffee,

Thanks for your response, but that doesn’t answer my question. I had done all that (the string translations), but like I said, they got lost when I updated the plugin. Are you suggesting that this is a feature, and that I have to redo all the translations every time I update your plugin?

Hi @karen-drost

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Ideally, updating the plugin will not lose the saved translations. We have tested this by installing the free version of Polylang plugin.

However, we will check the issue in your site. Please reach us with a support ticket here with below information:

1. Mention the version that you are updating from.
2. Which version you install to get the changes back.
3. Does this happen on every update or random versions.
