Translation – some gettext entry problems

  • Hello.
I’m working on polish (pl) translation of WordPress.
I encountered a few problems, mostly missing gettext entries in /wp-admin/link-manager.php (WP 1.2.1, I haven’t seen any other version)

    1. line 610 – “Show links in category”
    2. line 613 – “Order by”
    3. lines 728/729 – “Edit” and “Delete”
    4. line 713 – “Description”

In general I suggest looking through the whole file and adding missing _e(“…”) entries when necessary.
Another small problem – /wp-admin/categories.php, entry “Note:
Deleting a category does not delete posts from that category, it will just set them back to the default category General.” – can’t get that translated (that is – matched). If I put a short string (less than 3 lines) in poEdit – it gives an error (“a format specification for argument 1 doesn’t exist in msgstr”), if I put anything more – it doesn’t show up in my translated interface. Any clue what am I doing wrong or what’s wrong?
I hope it’ll be easy to update the translation when WP is upgraded to version 1.3, for example.

  • For the missing lines – it (almost) always happens to have small errors like that. BTW, do you have the latest updated POT for 1.2.1? I didn’t check it lately, but the devs usually update it.
As for the “Note…” – the original looks like this:
    Note:
    \n
Deleting a category does not delete posts from that category, it will just\n
set them back to the default category %s.

Did you put the \n at the end of the lines 1 and 2?

Wait a minute! In your .po file do you have this text as you quoted above?

Note: Deleting a category does not delete posts from that category, it will just set them back to the default category General

    It should be
    default category %s.
