I’m confused cause many themes say they are translation ready, I downloaded a plug-in named localization but it didn’t allow me to translate the words in the theme, only the interface language in WordPress! That’s not what Im after.

So, how do I go about finding a tool to translate these “translation ready” themes?

You would need to locate the theme’s translation .pot file and use a tool like PoEdit to create your own translations. See I18n_for_WordPress_Developers for further details.

Hi and thanks for the link, however I’m afraid I didn’t get a single thing of the content on that page. I’m not a developer. I heard rumors of this being kind of complicated, I guess they were right. I have however managed to locate the theme pot file from the server, and I have installed Poedit. So now Im trying to figure out how this work.

The thing that bothers me is that the words I get in Poedit after I actually dragged the pot file directly onto the Poedit icon (the pot file had a Powerpoint icon!?) is words from the interface language. Im not interested in changing the interface admin language, only the words that are in the themes design. I’m perfectly fine with the english admin, but I need every word that occurs in the design to be in another language. Like …search, next, back, send email etc.

That sounds like you are looking at the wring .pot file. Try looking for the correct file inside the theme’s own folder.

esmi, theres only one .pot file and its located in the languages folder of the theme. It contains all the words in the admin and as far as I can see the words used in the theme design as well. I translated the words I wanted translated, then I uploaded the nb_NO.po and nb_NO.mo files (for Norwegian) back to the language folder – but nothing had changed. I logged out and logged on, still no change.

I didnt make any changes to the wp-config.php because I dont wanna change the admin interface language, only the theme language like mentioned above.

What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?

    I purchased this theme:

    http://themeforest.net/item/blue-diamond-responsive-corporate-wp-theme/3454881?WT.ac=search_thumb&WT.seg_1=search_thumb&WT.z_author=GoodLayers

If the link is broken or too long the theme name is BlueDiamond and I bought it via Themeforest. The theme is produced by Goodlayers and they have 2332 sales on it. It says its translation ready. “.pot file for localization available” Thats the .pot file I used in Poedit.

Just an update to this, I have now tried to include (‘WPLANG’, ‘nb_NO’); to the config file anyway, still doesn’t work, I actually get an annoying series of zeroes in the footer instead.
