Hello,
The free version of the Yoast SEO plugin is being translated by contributors of the WordPress community. As such, not all of the phrases have been fully translated.
Upon checking the Hungarian language, it is still 74% completed. If you wish to help with the translation process, please feel free to check out the Translating WordPress section — https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/hu/default/wp-plugins/wordpress-seo
Hi Michael,
I really appreciate your reply and I am ready to contribute, but I need to check the translations in context, ie. on a real website.
I exported the POT file fom this page https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/wordpress-seo/stable/hu/default Converted it to MO file with POEdit, but I do not know where to place it in my WP install and what should be the correct file name in order to work.
I would appreciet if you could give me guidance on it.
Many thanks in advance.
If you’re wanting to translate the plugin locally before contributing, you can try translating using the 3rd party Loco translate plugin. If you’re not familiar with this, please reach out the relevant 3rd party plugin developer for assistance.
Hi Mazedul Islam,
many thanks for your quick reply. I have Loco intalled, but I much prefer POEdit and all I need to know where to place “wp-plugins-wordpress-seo-stable-hu.mo” in my WP install and what should be the correct file name in order to work.
I’d apreciate if you could share it with me since I’ve spent hours searching for the soluton w/o any success.
Many thanks in advance
Yoast SEO uses .json files for translation. If you want to use your translation on your WordPress install, you will first have to convert the file to .json, then rename it to wordpress-seo-hu_HU.jsonwordpress-seo-hu_HU.json and upload it in /wp-content/wordpress-seo\languages
Hi MariusG,
many thank, I really appreciate your valuable guidance!
I’ve tried to convert PO into all JSON formats, but the translation doesn’t work for “Page not found” and “You searched for”.
These format do not have the header of:
{"domain":"wordpress-seo","locale_data":{"wordpress-seo":{"":{"domain":"wordpress-seo","plural_forms":"nplurals=2; plural=n != 1;","lang":"hu"},
Once I deactivate Yoast it works fine in Hungarian.
Just updated to Yoast 6.3.1 and it overwritten the JSON language files where the “Page not found” and “You searched for” entries are not found.
Why are these important phrases missing from the free version?
I also added this
,"You searched for":["Ön a következőre keresett"],"Page not found":["Az oldal nem található"]}}}
to the end of the JSON file, uploaded, but still doesn’t work.
I know that the Net is English, but does anyone have an idea how to implement these and why YOAST overwrites default WP translations, please?
I have the same problem, just for German. Any solutions yet? Other than installing translation plugins. Should not be necessary to install a plugin just to translate two phrases … Thanks!
I guess everyone has this issue except those with English language sites.
This topic is more than 6 months old and I am still in the dark…
Our site will go live soon and if no solution then I need to deactivate the famous YOAST
Thanks for your reply and confirmation of the issue. I deactivated Yoast for the time being.
I wonder if it is a restriction only in the free version.
I’ve just checked the list of unresolved topics here and ours is not on the list, though it is still not resolved.
Is there anyone here to help us, pls?
