    Hello,
    I often use The events calendar. I am a member of the french translation team too. So I like translating The events calendar. 😉
    But there is something really annoying you probably can correct. The term “Event” is really often replaced in the plugin by a variable like %s.

    Please note that your use of %s is not compatible with the use of singular and plural. If %s represents one or more ‘items’, in a lot of languages others words need to be adapted to. There also is a problem with capital letter. E.g. in French:

    • Featured %s -> %s (Évènement) mis en avant (Singular + Uppercase letter)
    • Create or Search a %s > Créer ou rechercher un %s (évènement) (Singular + Lowercase letter)
    • All %s -> Tous les %s (évènements) (Plural + lowercase letter)
    • Etc.
    • I saw terms “event“, “events“, “Event“, “Events” are differentiated. I don’t know if they are well used, but even if they are, because of differences in all languages, there would be conflicts.

      So, can you stop using variables for this kind of terms, and replace them by the word ? Translation teams need to be able to choose the right terms please.
      We think it is important because staying in this situation damages the image of your great plugin, and sites where it is installed.

      Thank you very much.

  • Salut Clément Polito et merci beaucoup!!

    Thank you so much for posting this. I have been seaching and seaching in the translatefile to find a solution for my problems wiht the use of capital letters. I really didn’t know how to explain it – but you did it!!

    I couldn’t agree more. It’s exactly the same problem in danish – and it will be for every language that doesn’t use capital letters for nouns.

    It looks very unproffessional for your visitors, like if you don’t know your grammar!

    Thanks for the feedback – we do realize this isn’t the perfect solution and will continue to think about means of addressing it.
