    Hi,

I would like to translate the phrase: ‘Back to top’. Is this possible?

    Thanks in advance!

    Inge

  • Hi Inge,

If you wanted, you could create a new translation file (i.e. with a program like Poedit) that includes the wording you want. Or you could edit it directly in the plugin code. This string is found in the “DisplayFAQs.php” file in the “Shortcodes” folder.

Alternatively, if you’re using the premium version of the plugin, you can easily change the wording of this text in the “Labelling” area of the “Settings” tab.

I try to use po, mo files in wp-content/language/plugin with name ultimate-faqs-xx_XX but it is not seems the correct way.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

    Nimda

    Hi Nimba,

If you move the language files (i.e. PO and MO files) to the wp-content/plugins/ultimate-faqs/lang folder, does that make any difference?

I apologize for the delay in the response.
No, it does not seem to work.
I also tried renaming the files in xx_XX.po / mo but I am not so lucky 🙂

    Perhaps a bug?

    Thanks in advance,

    Nimda

    Hi Nimda,

There’s no bug with this functionality. However, we did just recently have to rename our text domain to ultimate-faqs. So, your files may no longer have the correct name. Have a look in the lang folder to see how your files should be named.

    Hi,
Already done. I wrote in correct way, you can see my first post. This is not the first time I translate plugins or themes 😊

    Hi Nimda,

I think there might be some confusion, so we had a few questions to try to clear up:

    1) What exactly are you trying to achieve? Are you just trying to translate “Back to top” only or are no translations working ?

    2) What language are you trying to translate into?

    3) What program are you using to edit the UFAQ’s .POT file?

    Hi Etoile,
Thanks for your answer, I try to be clear.
I want to translate the plugin into Italian and I tried to do this with poedit.
I tried the following file names:
    ultimate-faqs-it_IT.mo
    ultimate-faqs-it_IT.po

    and
    it_IT.po
    it_IT.mo

I tried to copy them both in:
    wp-content\plugins\ultimate-faqs\lang
    wp-content\languages\plugins

But it does not seem to work.

Ps. I’ve already translated “Back to top” by editing the DisplayFAQs.php file

    Thanks in advance,
    Nimda

    Hi Nimda,

Thanks for clarifying. Can you send us your PO + MO files to us at contact@etoilewebdesign.com (so we could see what might be causing the issue)?

    Hi Etoile,
after last plugin update language files works fine.
    You made some corrections?
In a few days I will send you the files with professional Italian translation of the plugin to be used for free.

    Thanks,
    Nimda

    Hi Nimda,

Glad to hear it’s working! We think there was a chance that you might have had an old POT file (and the update cleared up the linking problem).

Also thank you in advance for the IT translation files, it’ll be a great help to our Italian users :)!

I send you an email with po/mo italian translation.
And I update the development (trunk) on wordpress.org translation platform.

    I hope it is useful.

    Best regards
    Nimdaweb

    Hi Nimdaweb,

We received it, thank you for that! We asked you in the email about attribution.
