Support » Theme: Destin Basic » Translation files do not work in version 1.0.3

  • Resolved healiny

Recently, I upgraded the theme from version 1.0.2 to version 1.0.3.
Translation files have been deleted from the theme.
I brought them back from the backup, and they did not work.
I tried to put them in child-theme and also in folder “/ wp-content / languages / themes” and it still does not work.
Maybe you have changed anything in the settings?
Please help me solve the problem.

    Thank you

  • I think the proper way to have a language file that won’t get deleted is to create that languages folder in your uploads folder and then rename the files for the theme something like this:

That being said, in the new release I had to rename the text domain from ‘destin’ to ‘destin-basic’ in order for things to work properly with the new WordPress translation project. That means the old translation might not work. OR you will have to go through and replace all instances of ‘destin’ with ‘destin-basic’.

It actually needs to be in the /languages/themes folder.

damn! i wish i read this yesterday!
i spent the whole day banging my head against load_child_theme_textdomain and all that nonsense, trying to load translations from child theme, storing .po and .mo files in child’s /library/languages – and none of that worked!
then i discover you need to store files in /wp-content/languages/themes…
ah well, thanks for the solution c.bavota 🙂

p.s. how can i pass you the file without having to add each line in

p.p.s. PoEdit (and Loco plugin too) throws an error about your .pot file not having a default language set

Send me a link to the language file and I’ll figure something out.
