Hi, when I install and activate Gutenberg it is already translated using the official translation in my language. I downloaded it, modified it, and uploaded into the /plugins/gutenberg/languages folder, but my translation isn’t used. Tried renaming the .mo file but not sure what it should be. If someone could please tell me how I can update the plugin’s translation. Thanks.

  • Hey Andy,
why are you updating the translation file? Are there any typos or improvements? Then you can contribute to WordPress and improve the translation for all users on

The translation is made via, so the files are located in your installation under /wp-content/languages/plugins/.

    Hi Soren,

Thank you! I didn’t know about that file location, but that solves the problem.

There is a typo actually in this one, and I like to make my own translations or modify existing ones to serve my personal needs. I will be happy to contribute corrections.
