Using this plugin:
On some sites I see:
found possible problems in Option _transient_feed_whole_lot_of_serialized_characters_here (hidden data) option_id...
then tons of xml, html, etc…such as:
"is may 27, 2013. it has been an amazing 10 years, during which wordpress evolved from a simple blogware to a very full-featured cms (content management system), used to power some of the biggest and most popular web sites on the internet. all over the world, people are <a title="party on, wayne!" href="http://wordpress.org/news/2013/04/save-the-date-may-27/">planning celebrations</a>. as much as i like a good party, i thought this would also be a good time to celebrate wordpress by actually using wordpress — for blogging.</p> <p>so much of our content sharing these days tends to be via centralized “social” platforms like twitter, facebook, google+, tumblr, etc., that some of us neglect our blogs. i know <em>i’m</em> guilty of that. but this anniversa"
I am not using feedbacks or pingbacks and allow only fully moderated comments (not many) on this site…
In looking at this, it looks like the dashboard widget “WordPress Blog” and “Other WordPress News”
Is that all it is? If so, why do I ever want this stuff stored in any of my databases and how can we turn this off!?
Also, for plugin dev…I am sure a few folks who don’t know code may have thought there was a major issue? That said, is there one?
Is this some sort of code leak?
Well, I guess I was right about the first part
I also will attempt to turn off?
Should I then cleanup the db – or will turning this off do that also?
Edit: How do we actually turn off? How do we best and most easily clean up db?
Question @ plugin dev remains.
The transient feed options help cache feed info so that feed sites don’t get hit every time you display a page. If you use feeds you need it. If you don’t, you can try to whack wordpress admin functions to prevent the dispaly of News, etc.
