  • Hi,

I’m having trouble transferring my account to account which will be hosted by hostgator.

I used the “quickinstall” feature on hostgator cPanel and received a new username and password for wordpress. I can log into my new account and my website ( changes to a default template. I then change my automatically generated password. My forum reading leads me to believe that I’m correct up to this point.

However, once I try to transfer my content via the wordpress .xml file importer. I get logged out and my site goes back to being at What I mean, is my site content goes back up, I’m no longer on the default template, etc. Then I get logged out automatically of my new account and I get redirected to this:

My new account information doesn’t usually work for about 20 minutes to an hour. Then I’m able to log back in and I go back to the same default template.

I don’t think its my nameservers as I changed it yesterday and it is pointing to hostgator. (I think)

Can someone help me understand what I’m doing wrong?

    Thank you.

Are you trying to use the same domain name on both sites?

One thing I would check is your “siteurl” in your database for your hostgator account.

    • Log into your cPanel
    • Go to phpmyadmin
    • Click the wordpress database on the left side
    • Go to wp_options tables
    • Click the Browse tab at the top</li
    • Look for an option_name siteurl. Should be the first record
    • Is the option_value

If not, then change the value to
