Hi I've decided to take the plunge and move from having a wordpress.com hosted blog to a wordpress.org blog at bluehost.

My problem is that while I was at wordpress.com I had a domain name for my site --> http://www.thebioscopist.com --> Now I would like to use that again, so that all my old links and blog posts can still have the sme url after I made the transfer to bluehost. Right now i managed to get the http://www.thebioscopist.com to point to my new hosts front page, but as soon as I click on a link to a post it just reverts to the hosts domain name which looks like this --> http://69.89.31.102/~thebios1/

I cant seem to find one clear method for doing this? help...

You need to request that your domain provider (in this case wordpress.com) points the domain to the nameservers that you will be given by your new webhost.

Once you have your domain pointed to Bluehost and live with them, you just need to edit the Site URL and WordPress URL settings in your wp-admin dashboard area.

Log in as the admin, and go under the General Settings section. Change both URLs to your domain name, and Save.
