 * I have a wordpress.com site, which has a domain mapped to it (I bought the domain
   through 123-reg).
 * I wanted to transfer this site a wordpress.org site, as I want more control over
   the layout and design. I followed the instructions here: [https://move.wordpress.com/](https://move.wordpress.com/)
   and bought a Bluehost hosting package. When I signed up for that, and installed
   WordPress on it, it asked me for the URL of my site.
 * But now, when I click the ‘Admin Login’ button, it takes me to my usual wordpress.
   com dashboard.
 * I’ve tried logging out, and using the username and password that Bluehost have
   given me to ‘Access your new WordPress Site’, but the details aren’t recognised.
 * I’m very frustrated and feel like I’ve wasted my money. What am I doing wrong?

 * Hi Mark,
 * Thanks for the reply. I haven’t done that – my domain is registered with 123-
   reg, not WordPress.com (it’s just mapped to my wordpress.com site).
 * Do I need to change the IPS Tag of my domain from my 123-reg control panel? Will
   this mean that I am no longer a 123-reg customer?
 * Sorry if it’s a dumb question..

 * Not unless you want Bluehost to take over the management of your domain as well
   as your hosting. Otherwise, you can just point it at your new site on Bluehost
   instead of wordpress.com.

 * I’ve just seen that Bluehost won’t let me transfer a .co.uk domain – what do
   I do now? I don’t want to pay both Bluehost and 123-reg…
 * “Transfer to a self-hosted account,” they said. “It’ll be great!” they said.

 * It doesn’t actually cost much more (if anything) to have your domain name managed
   by one company whilst you host your site elsewhere. Even if you could transfer
   your domain name to Bluehost, you’d still have pay them an extra £12-15 (approx)
   every two years for your name registration. In effect, you’re just splitting
   the bill between two companies as it stands. Just try pointing your domain name
   to your Bluehost site and wait for up to 72 hours for the changes to fully propagate.

 * OK, so the issue of who provides my domain aside, I am still at a loss as to
   how to actually set the damn site up.
 * My site (www.lizbellmedia.co.uk) is set up with WordPress.com to look how I want
   it to – I like the theme, there are just a few minor changes I want at this stage,
   like being able to use Yoast.
 * But every time I try to log in to WordPress Admin via Bluehost, it takes me to
   the .com login. I’ve updated the nameservers with 123-reg, but it hasn’t made
   a difference.

 * Just following up, I’m able to pull up [http://www.lizbellmedia.co.uk/wp-admin](http://www.lizbellmedia.co.uk/wp-admin)
   without a redirect to WordPress.com. Also, a DNS check shows the name servers
   have updated world wide. [https://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/lizbellmedia.co.uk](https://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/lizbellmedia.co.uk)
 * Glad this got resolved for you 🙂

 * That’s really weird, because it still redirects to wordpress.com for me.
 * This may be a silly question, but what should appear at [http://www.lizbellmedia.co.uk/wp-admin](http://www.lizbellmedia.co.uk/wp-admin)
   now? And if it’s a .org login, what details am I supposed to use to actually
   log in? My Bluehost username and password?
 * Thanks.

 * No – the username and password you used when you installed WordPress on Bluehost.
 * FWIW, I’m now getting the login page for your Bluehost site too at [http://www.lizbellmedia.co.uk/wp-admin](http://www.lizbellmedia.co.uk/wp-admin)
   Try refreshing the page at your end or clearing your browser cache.

 * I don’t think it asked me for a password when I installed WordPress.
 * Still getting redirected after clearing my browser cache on Chrome. If I use
   Firefox, I do get a WordPress login, but it won’t accept any of the passwords
   I’ve used. If I use the ‘forgot password’ option, the link it emails me redirects
   me to WordPress.com again.
 * For what it’s worth, I’m not usually that technologically incompetent. This is
   doing. my. head. in.

 * It’s not possible to set WordPress up with a username & password being created
   in the process.
 * Did you empty your browser cache as suggested?

 * Yep, I emptied it.
 * I’m now getting a Privacy Error when I try to access my site, or the wp-admin.
 * When I installed WordPress on Bluehost, all it asked me for was the domain.

 * You have phpMyAdmin access through your cPanel. So you can find your current
   username and the email address that was set for your account through the users
   database table.

 * Then you can reset your password for your site.
