  • HI, I am brand new to WordPress. I had first made an account on wordpress.com come then found out that wordpress.org is the tool for me. Now I want to transfer the site I have made on wordpress.com to wordpress.org. Do I need to buy a domain and hosting first to transfer the wordpress.com site to wodpress.org? I apologize if this sounds a stupid questions but I am very new and still trying to figure out how this works.

Yep – and not a stupid question at all – there’s a lot of pretty confusing things to sort out when this is all new :). Get the new site set up (hosting and domain name if you don’t have your own domain name on WordPress.COM) and then you can export your content from WordPress.COM, and import it to your new site.
