Support » Fixing WordPress » Transfering a WP-Site to another WP-Installation

  • [ Moderator note: moved to Fixing WordPress. ]

I made for my client a website with WordPress. Meanwhile I’ve set up a development site (a copy from the running website) to work on new contents. Now I have to “overwrite” the running website with the new website (I am Using All-In-One-WP-Migration). Can I just import the new backup file from the development site to the running website or do I have to “clean” the WP-Installation on the running website?
    Your advice is appreciated.

    Kind Regards,

  • hi
if you change the content part only then you can import database.

but if you did changes in theme functions or styles, for that you need to upload the current theme. no need to overwrite current wordpress, just update the version if you want.
Always take a backeup of your site and database before doing major changes
