• Hello!

I have been working on my new version on a subdirectory and have gotten to the point where I want to get all my old images and posts into my my new blog before I eliminate the old site.

I have read lots of guides, but I am not sure what the right option for me is. I have my OLD site (Root) where I have a lot of blog articles, and I have my new site (subdirectory: /wordpress) where I have the layout of my blog/theme ready for me to transfer my posts to so when I migrate I don’t lose my posts.

I guess I am just confused what method to use? Do I need to copy over my entire old database and use phpMyAdmin to copy it over to the subdirectory? This is the first time doing this and I don’t want to mess it up for have to hire an expert.

I am using mediatemple as my server and have full access via FTP and other protocols. Would really appreciate some help, thanks a ton!

  • Just want to make sure I understand your situation before jumping in. You had a wordpress install in the root, you’ve created a new wordpress install in a subdirectory… is that correct?

If so, you can likely just update the wp-config.php file for the new site, to the db settings of your old site.
