Transfer followers from .com to .org?

Hi there –

I’m sure this is a silly question but I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere. I recently moved my blog from wp.com to wp.org. The domain for both was/is travelvolumes.com. Though the name is the same, and all the traffic is supposed to be routing from .com to .org, none of the followers moved over and our new follower count stands at 0.

Is there something we can do to recover those followers? Or can we alert them somehow to please re-follow? I was prepared to move subscribers, but I thought the followers would stay since the domain didn’t change.
