    Hi there,

I looked through the forum for an answer and wasn’t able to find a solution for this.

    My question is:
How do we track the sources from wp gotowebinar instead of just the gotowebinar platform?

example: I would do “source=email” through gotowebinar directly, but this doesnt seem to work since its a wp page.

I also tried adding this to the end of the URL: /?utm_source=Email
And still didn’t work (I have “email” in the source tracking in Gotowebinar already).

Here is the webpage with the form: http://planbox.com/webinar-registration-1

    Hi @soniacouture,

Thanks for your message. To be honest, I don’t really understand what you are trying to do. I get you are trying to do tracking. But I don’t know what you are trying to track and how/where you want to track it.

    Hi @northernbeacheswebsites,

So we would promote this webinar through different channels, and as part of my job, I need to track what works best for future reference.

We would promote the webinar through:
    – Email
    – Social Media
    – Press Releases
    – Website

Now… I want to be able to have every effort tracked. How I used to do it was adding “source=email” or “source=social media” or “source=Press Release”, etc. at the end of the gotowebinar link like this: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8376288894360043531?source=Email

Now, I want to be able to track it through here: http://planbox.com/webinar-registration-1

    How does that work?

    Hi,

That link you mentioned (https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8376288894360043531?source=Email) is not on your site, it’s on the GoToWebinar site, so you are not going to be able to track someone else’s site. There’s nothing stopping you doing this:
    https://www.planbox.com/webinar-registration-1/?source=email

Also it’s possible to get that information without even having to use things like source= in the query string using Google Analytics.

    Thanks,

    Hi Northernbeaches,

I have the same problem, and like Sonia said, it was actually possible to track the source of each attendee via GoToWebinar. GoToWebinar created the campaign links (Source=email or whatever) and then let you download the data in excel format once the webinar was finished.

We are interested in installing the plugin on our site because in future we would prefer that the traffic for each webinar registration flows through our domain and not GoToWebinar’s domain.

If we use the plugin though, we will not be able to rely on GoToWebinar’s report for source tracking. Do you have then a suggestion on how we could track the sources in a different way if the form is on our website via the plugin? I haven’t quite understood how google analytics is supposed to determine if someone signs up or not.

    Thanks for your help,

    @citrusll

I think you may be asking something different to the original poster, but I could be wrong. It is possible to send source data for each registrant to GoToWebinar, and our plugin already supports this. The source can be changed from the plugin settings, please see the “General Options” tab and the very last setting “GoToWebinar Registration Source”.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

thanks for the response. Apologies it it appears as if I changed topic, it just sounded similar to our problem.

The source can be changed from the plugin settings, please see the “General Options” tab and the very last setting “GoToWebinar Registration Source”.

OK, if I understood you correctly, that means one source for one form, right? For example, we advertise the webinar via various channels. They would all land on the page, complete the form but then only have one new source (whatever that is which we selected in General Options). It would obviously be a pity to lose this source data.

    Thanks

What that means is one source for any form created by our plugin.

What you are saying could be done with custom development work. I recommend contacting our team at info@northernbeacheswebsites.com.au if you would like to learn more about pricing for this, as we don’t provide this consultation via the forum. Thanks,
