Trackbacks not working with classic editor

    Since I’ve upgraded to WordPress 5 and switched to the Classic Editor plugin I can’t send trackbacks anymore.

    The box “Send Trackbacks” still appears under the editing area, but I don’t get the confirmation “Already pinged: …” anymore. I also checked with arXiv to check whether they receive the trackbacks anyway, and they don’t.

    I assume the bug is with the Classic Editor plugin, as I don’t see any way at all to send trackbacks without it. Any help is appreciated.

    I know that trackbacks are obsolete, but this is still the method that arXiv uses, so I need them in order to blog about scientific papers.

    I managed to solve the problem, it had nothing to do with the Classic Editor plugin, but rather that somehow my server ended up in its own .htaccess blacklist, and apparently WordPress needs to talk to itself to send out trackbacks.
