Support » Fixing WordPress » trackback-url generates 404 error

  • Hi, clicking a post’s trackback-url (generated by the according template tag) on my homepage I get a 404-error… the page trackback links work, though!
I use WP2.3, have customized permalinks

  • /%postname%/
  • .
Is there a way to resolve this problem? Can someone at least tell me how to modify the .htaccess to redirect /trackback/ back to the original post, please?!

    thank you! Mario

Not with that particular custom permalink, no. Using just postname like that confuses the line between Single Posts and Pages, so it won’t be able to tell whether a given link is a Page or a Post. This is why it works for Pages and not for your posts.

Use a different custom permalink. Not all possible custom permalink setups are valid.
