  • Ok I ended up learning it from another site.. but stil.l..

so when i post and have that box below.. that is a place I can put SOMEONE elses trackback url in right? and it will ping there blog and let them know im talking about their blog right???

second.. Should I have trackback on myself?? so people can take my trackback link and place it on their site?? and if so where do i turn it on?

Yes, “trackback” is really kinda cool. It allows blogs to “talk” to each other such that a post on YOUR blog shows up somewhere (usually in the COMMENTS area) on another, regardless of what type of blogware they’re using (as long as it supports the Trackback “standard”).

I use it all the time because I don’t really get that much traffic to my site, and it is a way to invite others to come read what I have to say on the subject. Typically only the “excerpt” part of your post appears on the other blog.

Oh, and yes, you want to enable Trackback on your site so that others can refer to your site in the same way. Just make sure you have all the usual spam guards installed.
