• I would like to be able to track the number of hits I send to a particular website from mine. I have google analytics installed and running, but I can’t figure out how to keep track of outbound links using this. It doesn’t seem to be a very straightforward process anyway, involving events on google’s own analytics page. Maybe I’m missing something obvious.

I’ve searched online and don’t see anything that caters to my level of knowledge on this. Am I wrong to think that this would be a commonly sought after thing even if it’s not a straightforward problem to solve?

I think that’s an over-complicated solution to what I need, I’m not sure if it will even do what I need.

What do other people do to track outbound links? Am I the only one that needs this functionality?

you can install google analytics by YOAST plugin.
there is a checkbox which automatically adds the events code to outgoing links
“Clicks & downloads will be tracked as events, you can find these under Content » Event Tracking in your Google Analytics reports.”

    Hi Gerald,

This is the exact plugin I mentioned in my first post.

so have you enabled the tracking method?
links should show up in your GA stats.

If you want to group them by event names I think you need to manually to that.

    Yes

links should show up in your GA stats.

That would be great, but either I’m missing something or they’re nowhere to be found. Is it as simple as turning on tracking like you mentioned above? Everything else about analytics is working great.

I appreciate you taking time to help me, thank you.
