    I’m using your theme and am having two issues I can not figure out.

    1) Why is there a hover on table rows? I’m getting a color change hover when moving my mouse over the first table row. I’d like to get rid of that but can not figure out how to do so safely across browsers.

    2) The second issue I’d like to resolve is unlinking the Page Title H1 / Entry Title. It is linked to its own page and I find that to be a usability issue. Where can I change this? Is it in the PHP?

    Thank you!

  • Figured out the tr hover thing. Wasn’t being specific enough in my CSS. Why would anyone need a hover on tr though?

    Still need help with #2.

    Hello kzarske,

    The page title thing will be fixed in the next version. Here’s what you can do:
    Create a child theme (if you haven’t already) and put this in the child theme functions.php:

    add_action( 'after_setup_theme', 'cakifo_child_theme_setup', 11 );
     * Theme setup function. Runs after the parent theme
    function cakifo_child_theme_setup() {
    	/* Get action/filter hook prefix */
    	$prefix = hybrid_get_prefix();
    	add_action( "{$prefix}_entry_title", 'cakifo_child_page_title' );
    function cakifo_child_page_title( $title ) {
    	if ( is_page() )
    		return do_shortcode( '[entry-title permalink=""]' );
    	return $title;

    Personally, I like hovers on table rows. Could you give a specific example on a situation where you find it strange to have a hover?

    Hope that helps you. If not, feel free to write again. If you have any questions beside this one I recommend you sign-up for support on Theme Hybrid.

    Thank you for the code. I will try it.

    I do not understand why someone would WANT hovers on rows. My issue was that it was doing a color change on a th where I did not have any links. To me a hover indicates a link is available or an action is available. Perhaps you use it with the intention of bringing focus to the data? But again, to me it’s really distracting and just screamed fix me because there is no action here, just data.

    The code worked great. Thanks.

    And as for the tr hovers… it was just a really specific rule and it took me a long time to figure out how to override it. Parent themes shouldn’t have really specific rules if the intention is to allow the child theme to overrule.

    But anyhow, this is only the second theme I’ve developed with and what do I know. Hehe. I have enjoyed working with this one. Thanks for your response and all your hard work.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    The idea was to bring focus to the data but I’ll write it on my list and think about it for the next update.

    However, I’m not sure I agree that it’s a very specific selector. The selector used is tr:hover td

    Well I do have a cold so maybe I just couldn’t wrap my head around it last night. I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of a hover in the child sheet. But I finally got it. Thanks again for the help!

    Oh and by the way — the theme is great for the ipad and iphone… the responsiveness is awesome and consistent…unlike some of the other themes I tried for this project.

    Thank you 🙂 If you run into any bugs let me know
