Upgrades don’t always go perfectly, but we tested throughly beforehand to make sure it worked. It did on our end, but with some many different WordPress setup possibilities anything can happen. Regardless, I’m very sorry about the inconvenience caused.
Most of the bugs have been fixed, I’ve been at this for about 12+ hours to get everything perfect and for nearly every use case to be catered for. If you try and upgrade now you should be more successful. None of your old settings are touched in doing so, so you can always just downgrade again if you feel like it.
The codebase for v1.x of Easing Slider was actually over three years old, and not optimised by any means. Ironically, it was the first PHP scripting I wrote, as a learning exercise. It’s a bit of a cache 22, because it worked well, but provided no scope for future enhancements or extensive modifications. It is also poorly coded, and not optimized by any means. Furthermore with the old code there was also no hope of getting it to work with mobile devices. The only option was to simply start afresh.
In Easing Slider v1.2.1 I put an upgrade message within the plugins admin area to warn users of the massive changes, and to thread with some caution. Releasing such big updates will always cause a few hiccups, but again, I’ve been working hard to get it all smoothed out. What works on my setup occasionally doesn’t replicate onto others.
I do hope with the update you can avail of some of the new cool features that have been added, such as responsive and mobile support. I’m doing all of this for free, and am doing so for the sheer enjoyment of providing the best product I can. Feel free to use the older versions, but the future lies with 2.0+ and there is a lot more good stuff to come.
Again, of couse, I’m extremely sorry for the issues you’ve encountered. My sincere apologies.
I see you’ve upgraded again and it is working well. Slideshow it looking great, and glad to see it is working for you now 🙂
Yes, thank you for the help. I rolled it back and waited for your next release. Everything seems ok now.
That’s great to hear 🙂 Sorry for the inconvenience caused by the initial problems. My apologies.
Still, I know how frustrating it can be! Good that all is well now anyway. Hope you get some good use out of the update and all of the forthcoming improvements now that we’ve got a much better platform to work from!
Thanks for getting back in touch 🙂
Not a problem at all. I wish I could change my review from 1 star. I should have just gone into support and put in a ticket but I wasn’t paying attention. Had a bunch going on at the time.
