    Hi I am a newbie to WordPress so I'm not sure if this problem is as major as I'm making out but thanks for any help offered.

    Ok the problem is located here : http://www.mattleephotographic.co.uk

    I used to have a hand scripted HTML site here but have been constructing a WordPress site in a subdirectory to eventually replace the conventional site (the subdirectory was 'Wordpress/wordpress' because I accidentally created it 2 directorys deep). Once I finished the WordPress site I went about deleting my old HTML files and moving the WordPress folders to the root. I moved all the WordPress contents into its own directory, /wordpress.
    While I still had access to my admin I updated the URL & home settings to the new settings.
    I think I have gotten very tangled up in trying to make things work since moving all the files about so I just don't have a clue what the problem is now.
    I have followed most help topics I can find and no fixes work. I have even looked into the database wp-options table and the settings in there appear to be correct. So I can't understand why my site isn't displaying correctly!
    Due to the fact that data is appearing I'm assuming the database is being accessed ok the the problem is with my WordPress files.
    Is my only option to install WordPress again? If so what's the best method of going about removing all the old files.

    Thanks in advance for any wise words!

    The instructions to do what you tried to do are here:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory#Using_a_pre-existing_subdirectory_install

    Best thing to do now is restore from the backup you made (or the most recent one your web host made) before you did the move, and start over, following the instructions above.

    As you will see, no files get moved.

    As you say, the html and php seems to check out okay. Your problem is loading the stylesheets. These files don't seem to exist:

    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://mattleephotographic.co.uk/wp-content/themes/haze/style.css" media="screen" />
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://mattleephotographic.co.uk/wp-content/themes/haze/css/prettyPhoto.css" media="screen" />
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://mattleephotographic.co.uk/wp-content/themes/haze/css/superfish.css" media="screen" />

    There is likely more to it than that, but this is a good place to start.

    Ok makes sense. Will I be able to get into my Admin? Because I made the setting updates in the dashboard before all went wrong.
    Thanks

    The current site appearance does suggest there are no style sheets. In the source code viewed through the browser the style sheet path points to where the styles used to be located, not where they should be now.

    So modify your header.php to reflect the changes. I haven't looked into your source deeply enough, but you may need to do the same for linked images.

    You're absolutely wrong.

    @Solocoombe: follow the instructions in the link http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory#Using_a_pre-existing_subdirectory_install posted by jonradio after you return to a backup, because you broke the site in two different ways: moving files and changing the URL in settings.

    Do not edit header.php and hardcode any links. The style sheet links you see are generated by php and are not static html.

    @jonradio & songdogtech, great thanks for the advice will return to backup and start over, I take it I should change my data base/ wp-options back for the moment until I restart the process?
    Thanks all for help.

    I have an update to the above. I have restored from a backup and the site has partially restored. The remaining problems is that there are no images appearing anywhere in the site at all and the link to the home page from any other pages does not work.
    Does anyone know the simple answer to the 2 problems?
    Thanks
