Total count solution in custom text for single vote

I insert the following custom text to show after visitor rating:
%total_count% Votes

The above works fine for more than one vote.
For a single vote, it shows: 1 Votes

I need to use the word ‘Votes’ (and ‘Vote’ for 1 vote).

Any solution would be appreciated.
