Top Nav bar flows into next line and bar will not take text to right

Top Nav bar flows into next line if I add extra text in any nav bar button and will not take text to right of top Nav bar (=blank )
I am not sure where to look for the appropriate code as the CSS file in editor seems to be empty and all the css seems to be within loop files, and the top-menu.php file has no dimension variables or containers in it.

I wonder if anyone could tell me please which file to look in and what I need to do to stop the top nav bar from flowing into the next line if I modify any text bettons, and to stop it appearing with no text in the blue nav bar to the right. Is it something to do with elasticity of the container or some right margins not lining up?

I notice in the image for the theme in advertising that the search box actually shows within the nav bar to the right, but in my live copy of the theme, the search box appears in the header.
