    Gutenberg Version 7.7.1

I was told I should post here instead of in the Alpha testing area as it relates to Gutenberg.

The top block is missing the add block plus mark.

I can add blocks under it and then move them up but I’d like to just be able to create blocks at the top of the page.

The other blocks have black plus marks that shows up but the mouseover is tricky at times as it has to be a perfect little spot to see it properly. Can it be the while line instead for the mouse over? Line a large full width button instead of just a tiny little hotspot?

The drag option you have added to move blocks into other blocks is wonderful now as the whole block lights up when you drag something into another thing. But it is difficult to move blocks between other blocks as there is no visual hint like the lines we used to get before. Can you fix this so the insert line shows up properly?

Thank you so much for all the updates. Gutenberg is getting really good finally. Also hopely Gutenberg will get SVG support properly one day though. It is impossible to use files like this now in the iOS app. Nothing shows up at all. I’ll ask more about that in the app though.

Thank you again for your time here. Hope I can help out fixing stuff too one day.

  • I’m on Development Version (5.4-RC2-47447) now with Gutenberg Version 7.7.1.

If I click near the plus mark with the cursor the top block is just selected.

A div shows up in the code when doing the mouseover though:

    <div class="components-popover block-editor-block-list__insertion-point-popover is-without-arrow" data-x-axis="right" data-y-axis="top" style="position: absolute; top: 2914.36px; left: 756px;"><div class="components-popover__content" tabindex="-1"><div class="block-editor-block-list__insertion-point" style="width: 360px;"><div tabindex="-1" class="block-editor-block-list__insertion-point-inserter"><div class="components-dropdown block-editor-inserter"><button type="button" aria-haspopup="true" aria-expanded="false" class="components-button block-editor-inserter__toggle has-icon" aria-label="Add block"><svg width="24" height="24" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 24 24" role="img" aria-hidden="true" focusable="false"><path d="M18 11.2h-5.2V6h-1.6v5.2H6v1.6h5.2V18h1.6v-5.2H18z"></path></svg></button></div></div></div></div></div>

    Can that be made clickable?

    Hi

The top block is missing the add block plus mark.

In Twenty Twenty yes the plus mark is missing. Here is the issue for that:
    https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/49610

I can add blocks under it and then move them up but I’d like to just be able to create blocks at the top of the page.

If you mean above the page/post title then that is not possible at present time.

The other blocks have black plus marks that shows up but the mouseover is tricky at times as it has to be a perfect little spot to see it properly. Can it be the while line instead for the mouse over? Line a large full width button instead of just a tiny little hotspot?

Here I believe you are wondering if the black square which is supposed to have a + sign in it if it can become bigger making it easier to add blocks. Is this correct?

But it is difficult to move blocks between other blocks as there is no visual hint like the lines we used to get before

If your talking about columns. There is a new approach where we can click the toolbar sideways arrows.
If your talking about the Group block. There I noticed that it is difficult dragging blocks into it and inside of it. I made this issue: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/20955

Btw here is a search based on the word SVG: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+svg

Let me know if there is anything else.

    Have a great day!

    ps
I am not clear what you meant with your 3rd post.

The first ticket you posted is not the point I was talking about. If you have a block after the title then move about it to add a block, there is no plus mark at all. The whole thing is missing. The plus mark in blow the block and above every other block though.

I believe there is an issue for it. I have also heard others mention it. It is being looked into.

I love Gutenberg, but it has some quirks and this is why I some times come to this forum to look for a solution. I have similar problem as @a4jpcom. Possibly the same issue. I tested it on clean WP 5.4 and several different themes including Twenty Nineteen, Twenty Seventeen, OceanWP and more.

I have noticed, that there are no + icons on top of any block. It appears on top of some blocks, but actually it is the bottom of the block that is located just above it. The only only way to add blocks to the top is either from lower block’s menu, with the shortcut key CTRL+ALT+T or adding it below and then moving it up.

Another thing I noticed, is that when one block is active, then it has this frame around it and possibly as a result of this I don’t see a + icon on top of that. Even when there is another block above and the + icon should be there. I assume that upper block is showing the + icon, but active block’s frame is covering it or elliminating in some other way.

Is this intended behavior? It would be much easier if those + icons would appear always when hovering this area with the mouse. Can we do something about it?

I wish the add block above block got put back where it was before. I keep forgetting it’s not there, and have to make blocks below it then slide them up all the time. Just at the top under the page title that is.
