• If I go into the Quick Start Guide in settings, the footnote tooltips work exactly as advertized. Every does what it is supposed to. This happens regardless of whether I set Display alternative tooltips to Yes or No.

    However as soon as I put it into a actual post, then the tooltip stops working unless I set Display alternative tooltips to Yes and the none of the tooltip timing parameters work. The tooltip immediately displays on hover and then disappears immediately off hover.

    What is going on – why does this work on the dashboard but not in an actual post?

    @knomaze, @lolzim,

    Very sad about your trouble with the tooltips. Yet in our experience, Footnotes’ jQuery tooltips may be blocked due to an incompatibility with the theme. That was the very reason of adding an alternative tooltips option. I think that you do not see this issue in the plugin’s Quick Start Guide because if I’m not mistaken, that admin page does not load the theme, nor does it have the alternative tooltips option. Normally the timing options work for the alternative tooltips too, thanks to CSS transitions.

    As a first step, please try deactivating all listed plugins but Footnotes, although I guess that the issue persists if it’s not due to a plugin conflict. After reactivating the plugins, please allow us to access a page where the bug happens, for us to try to investigate and hopefully fix it. If you don’t wish to disclose your URL publicly, you may do so privately, options to do that include emailing the plugin author (in the plugin’s PHP header) or submitting your Site Health Information using this form.
