This is what the tooltip says:

“Note: If you are using a plugin such as WP Rocket, WP Fastest Cache or the caching system provided by your hosting company, then this fetching process would be significantly reduced as visitors will access static HTML pages read from the caching. Technically, no SQL queries should be made as the WordPress environment would not be loaded as it happens with a non-cached page (e.g. when you are logged-in and access the front-end pages).”

However, I can’t work out exactly what this refers to.

Question: Please can you clarify. If I use WP Fastest Cache, will the caching system by quicker if I select Disk, 50/50, or database?

    Many thanks.

@thomastolkien the information is related to the way the caching data is accessed by Asset CleanUp (Lite or Pro). In future versions of the plugin, disk one would likely be the only option of storing the information as it turned out to be very reliable and it’s used by other well know caching mechanisms. Now, when Asset CleanUp was firstly developed, the database was the only method used, but in time it was clear that there were issues with it and for such information disk worked better.

Whenever you use WP Fastest Cache and the HTML page is rendered by the plugin (e.g. no PHP code is triggered from any plugins), then obviously there won’t be any extra queries from Asset CleanUp.

The whole point of a cached page is to AVOID any PHP code triggering from any plugins apart from the plugin that is doing the cache (and the code is read in an effective way) or the theme.

So, to answer your question, if you’re already using a caching plugin, it shouldn’t matter really what option you’re using (e.g. disk, 50/50, or database) as the non-cached pages in the front-end are not so often accessed (e.g. by you and other admins in most cases).

    Thanks – that’s very helpful.
