Great design and clearly a theme with potential, but I agree with other posters on the forums here that it is too post-centric. A key conceptual distinction in WordPress is between Posts (roughly, chronologically ordered pieces of time-dependent content) and Pages (roughly, places were more stable content is provided). The fact that WordPress makes this distinction makes it so flexible and widely used for blogs, corporate sites with relatively static content, and blends of the two — sites that have static pages as well as blog content.

This theme forces the user to adopt posts for almost everything. That makes it hard to use it in a static pages kind of setup (the thread about the corporate homepage layout being hard to set up illustrates this). I’m hoping the theme can be improved to allow using it with pages as well as with posts.

I’m not posting this as a review as I think the theme is quite fresh and has a lot of growing potential. Will keep it on my watchlist though. Thanks for making it available!

  • Hi Mark,

    Thanks for the feedback.
Actually, we have been discussing on the same point with other users and advice givers. We really appreciate all the feedback. We have realized the need for Corporate Layout as page template.

Corporate Layout will be available as page template in version 1.2.2.

Thanks, any other suggestions are welcome.

    Regards,

    Great, looking forward to that!

Here are some ideas to make the corporate layout useful and easy to setup with pages.

    1. Provide the flexibility to have two, three or four content blocks. (Five seems too much for the nicely designed icons, but two and four would be nice to have as options besides the current three.)

    2. Don’t let the user set content and images from the theme settings page. This leads to theme lock-in (meaning it becomes hard to switch themes, which isn’t user friendly) but worse, it doesn’t use the powerful built-in features of WP.

    3. Following from #2, populate the corporate content blocks with content from existing pages the user chooses: Either the full page content or the_excerpt if set. For the icons, take the featured images of the pages. The user already knows their way around the edit windows and can easily change the text and the icon images.

    Hi Mark,

    Thanks for your all suggestions.
    We will consider it.

Looks pretty good, thank you! I very much like being able to select subpages for the corporate layout main page content, and it even picks the excerpt when I have excerpts enabled for pages.
