Support » Fixing WordPress » too many server redirects and no htaccess file

  • Hey forum,
I have an issue. I cannot get onto my website as a visitor. When I try, the webpage is blank and it says too many server redirects. Also, I cannot find an htaccess file anywhere in my wp-admin folder. I mean, this all started when I tried to incorporate buddypress into my website. I am wondering if I got hacked or is it just a simple “redirecting” issue. I tried the redirect plugin, but nothing seems to work except for just uninstalling buddypress. Keep in mind, this is my first website, so I am new to web design. I hace no prior knowledge. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
    Bryan G

  • Your .htaccess file should be in your root, not your wp-admin.

Make sure that your WordPress core, theme, and plugin files are up to date and that you haven’t edited any of them.

If you enable only BuddyPress and disable all your other plugins, does everything still work okay?
