• In the last few days, without my changing anything on the site of note, I have started encountering 2 errors with my MultiSite install (v4.2.2).

I have several sites in my network. All but one are fine. The one that doesn’t work properly has 2 problems.

    1) The page doesn’t load properly, … you can see it here:
    http://startuptucson.org/thryve/

    2) I can’t get into the site to administer it because the http://startuptucson.org/thryve/wp-admin/ enters a 302 Temporary Redirect loop.

Even though all of the other existing sites work fine in both respects (page displays properly and no wp-admin login 302 loops… the other problem is that ever new site I create also has the same two problems.

    I created this site:

    1) http://startuptucson.org/test/ and you can see it’s not formatted properly.

    2) http://startuptucson.org/test/wp-admin enters the 302 Redirect Loop.

    Any suggestions?

  • A suggestion. Open the View Source in your browser window for your test page and copy the contents to a text editor. Then open the View Source for a working home page and copy those contents to a text editor. Do a file compare or text compare and see if it will show you any differences that might be causing the problem.

The test page looks like it isn’t using the style file. I looked at View Source for your wp-admin page and it is completely empty. No redirect at all. The browser doesn’t know what to do with it.

Thanks SleeplessinDC. I feel like (but don’t know for sure) that the lack of a style file and the loop are related. The sites that are working, both work fine. The test and thryve sites have both problems. I can’t imagine what thing might cause all of this.

Can you expand on your post a bit? What would you expect to see in the View Source for the wp-admin page?

    Ok, now I’m really confused.

I added the domain Thryve site. I added thryve.org and http://www.thryve.org to the Domain Mapping page and pointed those domains to the host DNS address. After propegation, the site now loads properly. Whether I use the address I posted before (www.startuptucson.org/thryve) or the direct URL (thryve.org)… it all works fine now.

And so does the wp-admin… http://www.startuptucson.org/thryve/wp-admin/ or thryve.org/wp-admin. Everything works.

    EXCEPT, THAT IS…

Any new site I create. http://www.startuptucson.org/test/ still load without formatting… and the http://www.startuptucson.org/test/wp-admin still gets an error 302 redirect message.

What is going on here? 🙂

And now, if I map another domain to http://www.startuptucson.org/test/… it works fine as well. Now that I know what’s going on… my question is *why* is this happening?

I should be able to create a site in the network without mapping a domain to it, right?
