Support » Plugin: Site Kit by Google - Analytics, Search Console, AdSense, Speed » Too many bugs and too much time to troubleshoot

  • This should be fire and forget easy since it’s coming from Google but they clearly released this without any thought or concern for just how badly this is screwing up user’s data.

@adaptistration Sorry to hear you’ve been encountering issues using the plugin. While it sounds like you’ve spent time troubleshooting already can you let me know the issue you’ve been encountering and I can see whether it’s something I can assist with?

As of this morning, I keep getting a “creating site failed” error. I have been through all of the documentation and verified the SSL version of site names match etc.

I’m trying to decide if it’s worth moving over my 115 users I manage to SiteKit and frankly, the amount of time spent trying to troubleshoot tells me this plugin is nowhere near ready for use at a commercial level.

@adaptistration There was some temporary downtime today which may have impacted site setup, although unfortunately this was something outside of the plugins control. Sorry for any inconvenience, it wasn’t planned downtime.

If managing multiple users it would be great if you can setup Site Kit now and see if you’re able to connect now? Bear in mind if you plan on connecting Site Kit with the same Google account for a large number of sites you may encounter OAuth limitations, but let me know if you can connect a site now and whether everything works as expected.

5 min x 115 users = 9.5 hours of work time lost to unreliable service.

I’m sure you’ll agree this is nothing but a negative ROI.

I didn’t receive any notice about down time, so are there no status board or notification emails to opt into?

And no, still getting “creating site failed” error (and there’s no reference to that error in the documentation).

@adaptistration Certainly it’s not ideal, I can understand your frustration. This error is new to us also, you can find out more on this downtime using this link.

I’ll try find out more on this issue and report back to you here.

I appreciate that but you can see how this is simply not a reliable option for providers and agencies, correct?

@adaptistration The downtime which impacted your site(s) setup is unfortunate although it’s the first such occurrence I’ve encountered. I will however keep you posted here once I have a confirmed update.

@adaptistration Thanks for your patience. Are you in a position to test setup once more on one of your sites? All services should be working as normal.

Yes, it finally connected. Your attention to this has been great but this sort of unreliability is still a showstopper at this point.

@adaptistration Good to hear it finally connected. Hopefully there won’t be any further unscheduled downtime.

It would be helpful to create a support topic if you encounter any issues should you wish to use Site Kit going forward. We can then hopefully assist with any problems that arise.
