More people are using MetaSlider than ever, and to stay committed to keeping it free forever, and continue to develop new features, we need to keep ads in there. We also strongly believe in our other free products and the value they add to our users.
However, thanks for your feedback, we are currently looking into how to balance ads to not be overbearing while providing value to everyone. We plan to trim back a bit in an upcoming release.
@kbat82 do you feel that global ads are fair? Ads on MetaSlider settings pages or within MetaSlider widgets are one thing. The ads you’re pushing at the moment are in the global admin space. It’s a really aggressive push. If every plugin that had a premium upgrade did this, the WP admin would be completely unplayable.

Thanks for the feedback. While we don’t have any global ads, we do have ads that show on the WP dashboard. But we only show a few ads that are related to our other (free) products, not ads about upgrading to pro.
Is it fair? I think so. Mainly because they can be dismissed, but also because we have a full time staff working on a free plugin and need money to continue updating and proving value to our users. This isn’t a side project for us. Hope that makes sense.
That being said, we are trimming back the ad system in our next release for this week, which will allow for the user to dismiss a single ad and not see another for 12 weeks, excluding seasonal discounts like xmas and black friday.
It’s not easy to find the balance between offering value and “nagging” the user. While we do feel our other plugins are must-have WP plugins, we also don’t aim to annoy. Feedback like this helps us figure that out balance. Thanks again.

I too find the many Metaslider ads in the main WP area to be seriously annoying and we’ve started the process of migrating away. The new plugin we found does what we want and doesn’t nag us to death with gratuitous plugs for things we’ll never buy. I mean, sometimes it seems like there’s a new ad there every few days. And we manage a lot of sites, so add it up. (no pun intended)
Used to love Metaslider but with the ads and clunkier new interface, etc, it’s lost its appeal.

What version are you on? The latest version shows an ad once every 12 weeks. The only time you will see an ad outside of that is when we have a promotion. But those are easily dismissed as well. If you’re not able to dismiss the ads, then there might be something else happening that I would be happy to help you debug.
Also, could you explain what you mean by the clunkier new interface? Besides a few spacing and icons, not much at all has change with the layout in years. Again if something seems broken then this could be an issue that needs addressing. Let me know by opening an issue here:
