Back again to remove another star. I’m at the point now that I can’t recommend this at all. The final straw is when the customer clicked the accept link on the quote we sent them, the shipping fee got removed during checkout. This was a fixed fee we added and was not dynamically added by connecting to a shipping service. The customer changed their billing address when they checked out. That’s it. Before this, all the quirks (bugs) we had to work with were on our end and I learned how to work around them. Because this happened on the customer side, we have no control. Because of this, we can’t use it as it was intended. We are only using it to collect quotes online now. Then we take it to stripe and create a quote in stripe. Obviously, I’m looking for a different solution now.

From my experience in working with them, it seems that they have not spent enough time bug testing their API connections to Woocommerce. Then when something doens’t work, they always blame it on Woo. When I turn off their plugin, woo works fine.

As it stands now, I can’t recommend it.

I started out giving them 1 star because there are so many buggy things with this plugin, but decided come back and give them a better rating after working through what I now call quirks. All total I submitted about 40 tech support requests. I can’t say they fixed anything I found to be wrong, but I was able to find workarounds and some (very few) were just the result of me needing some instruction because it wasn’t intuitive. Workarounds involved having to change their default setup because it made for poor usability for the user. Most of the quirkiness is just what the admin sees in the backend that the customer never does. Once I learned it may look incorrect to me (that’s what generated so many support requests) but that it’s correct for the customer, I became more accepting of its flaws.

The biggest problem I have now is it doesn’t work with Woocommerce’s tax plugin which is the only way we get proper sales tax in Woocommerce now. This RFQ plugin still depends on standard rates being manually added in Woo’s tax settings. With literally hundreds of tax rates for California, no one does that. Woo has a slick way of doing that now and this RFQ plugin is behind the times.

So while I don’t like the quirkiness, I love the app. I couldn’t find any other one out there that had the features I needed. Can it be better? Absolutely. But for getting the job done, it’s great – as long as you know how to work around the quirks.

Features I need and it provided:
    • Ability to custom quote the shipping fee
    • Ability to add custom fields to the form
    • Tie form fields into Woocommerce contact fields
    • Ability to add my own line items with custom labels to add or subtract cost such as the credit card fee (because it’s sales tax ability is flawed, at least I can add it manually this way after googling what the right rate and fee should be)
    • Ability to send a PDF quote and customize the PDF with my own messaging.

If it wasn’t so quirky, I’d give it 5 stars for features. I just removed 1 star because of the sales tax problem that just came up.

Frankly, YITH, you should give me a lifetime subscription on this plugin (assuming all the bugs and kinks get worked out and I can use it) for the weeks of beta testing and bug and poor usability reporting I had to do for you. It’s just not right that you use your customers to do that for you. 🙁
