Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Toggle visibility of variations if another variation is selected?

I’m racking my brains around this, and maybe there’s a plugin for it because I don’t usually use WooCommerce, but I have an issue.

I have a variable product with variations: size, color and the frame color. Now in the size I have 4 sizes 2 without the frame, and 2 with the frame (say I’m creating a poster product).

What I want is to show the frame color dropdown variation, only if I selected the size with the frame.

Can this be done from within the WooCommerce, or do I need to add a custom field using hooks, so that I can add a checkbox with, say: show the frame field. And then if that option is selected, the third variation will be shown?

Conditional dropdown fields is better suited to dedicated form builder plugin like https://www.woocommerce.com/products/gravity-forms-add-ons/ 🙂

So there’s no way to do it (other than hacking it with js)?

Not sure what you mean – the link above points to an extension integration with http://gravityforms.com which will allow you to set conditional checks on <select> values. Whether that’s done via http://gravityforms.com or through your own custom JS, the result would be the same – except that one <select> field will be populated with WC variations, while the other would be using fixed, pre-defined values.

I managed to do it with a bit of JS, I’ll have to go a bit deeper to make it automatic tho.

What I was wondering if there was a free plugin, or a built in way to have linked variations in WooCommerce. The personal licence for Gravity Forms is $39 and the above mentioned plugin is $99, and since I’m still not doing any official work (I got a small assignment from a possible client to see if we can work together), it seemed a bit too much to spend 🙂

But thanks for the suggestion on how it can be done 🙂

How many frame colours are available?

Well so far two, but that’s just arbitrary. You can put 100, the variation with the frame is the important one 😉

did you ever find a good solution to this?
