    Hello community,

There is a similar topic regarding this same issue but was not resolved. I tried using the method provided by @bmscmoreira but it did not solve the problem.

THE ISSUE: Upon clicking the close button from the search bar, or the close button from the mobile menu, the page rapidly scrolls to the top, and rapidly back to your original location on the web page. This is VERY noticeable and quite taxing when you desire a simple fixed navigation header.

RECREATE THE PROBLEM: For those that want to see this in action using the original theme, scroll down from any page on the Twenty Twenty theme to the point you can still click either the menu ellipses button or the search button. Then, click the CLOSE button and watch the page jump to the top and scroll back down to your original page location.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there! I think you’re referring to this previous issue, correct?

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/menu-glitch-when-toggled-untoggled-twentytwenty/

If so, it sounds like this happens if you’ve modified the theme to have its header fixed to the top.

I tried to reproduce the error by applying a position: fixed; to the .site-header (along with z-index and width rules to get it to appear correctly), but I didn’t see the page scroll all the way up to the top in my testing.

Is there something else I’d need to do to reproduce? Thanks!

Thanks for your response Kjell … Nothing else really to do. Try using this link here and view the PREVIEW of this theme:

    https://wordpress.org/themes/twentytwenty/

When viewing the preview, scroll down a little bit to the point you can still click the menu or search button on the header. Then click the CLOSE button and watch it jump up and down.

Ah, ok I see the problem now! I’d been testing in Safari, and it doesn’t happen there for some reason. I can see it happening in Firefox and Chrome.

I’ve filed an issue here to track this bug: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/52116
