 * Hello,
 * On my site, in Post SMTP Settings, Advance tab, there is temporary directory
   set to /tmp. Next to it is written “invalid” in red.
   Can I still use the plugin
   normally, or does it matter that it no longer says “invalid”?
 * Can I create a new temporary directory folder named “temp” and write the path
   in Post SMTP Settings, Advance tab ?
   If so, where should I create that new folder?
 * Best regards

 * Hi [@doly77](https://wordpress.org/support/users/doly77/) ,
 * I hope this message finds you well.
 * Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issue you’re experiencing. Based
   on your description, it appears that your hosting provider has restrictions on
   creating a lock file in the `tmp` directory. However, the plugin will work smoothly.
 * One of our users encountered a similar issue and resolved it by adjusting the
   path settings. Here’s how you can try to resolve this:
    1. Navigate to **Settings** > **Advanced Tab** in Post SMTP.
    2. In the **Temporary Directory** field, update the path to `'/tmp/'` instead of`'/
       tmp'`.
    3. If the issue persists, create a new `tmp` folder within your WordPress directory.
    4. Update the **Temporary Directory** field to reflect the full path, for example:
    5.  - `/home/.sites/697/site1305605/web/tmp/`.
 * Once updated, the directory should validate correctly.
 * If the problem continues, share your Site Health Report with us. If you are not
   comfortable sharing it here you can open a ticket from our website.

 * Hello [@aqibkhan9](https://wordpress.org/support/users/aqibkhan9/)
 * Thank you very much for you answer, it works. I have created a new tmp folder
   and then updated the Temporary Directory field. Now it is written “valid” in
   green.
