In the past I had every one of my gallery images titled and that title showed up under the photo. Now no titles are showing up and it looks like I need to move my titles to the Alt Text box if I want them to show up. I have years of work on my site and to have to move every one of those titles to the alt text field will be a huge project. Why is this happening and is there a way to fix it without having to edit every image?

Hi, did you recently update Simple Lightbox to the latest version on your site? If so, what version were you updating from?

If the changes in the lightbox did not occur directly after updating SLB itself, then the most common cause of abruptly changing behavior is from the updating/installation of a different plugin or theme, or server changes made by your site’s hosting provider.

As such, I would recommend thinking back to any plugins you installed or updated, as well as any new theme you may have activated around the time the lightbox behavior changed.

Here are step-by-step instructions for identifying a conflicting plugin/theme. Leave a comment below with the name and link of any conflicting plugins/themes you find and I would be glad to take a look.

If you don’t find any conflicts, please provide a link to a page that exhibits the issue you are experiencing and I would be glad to take a closer look.

@vollweggn as per the forum’s guidelines, please create a separate thread so that your specific issue can be evaluated independently.

    Thanks.

I update plugins regularly as new versions are released, but I don’t recall when I might have updated Simple Lightbox last. I have not changed themes or uploaded any new plugins and I have tried disabling each of my plugins to make sure there is no conflict. I use a default WordPress theme Twenty-fourteen.

I have however changed hosts. That change happened in June 2018. But because I only add photos to this site twice a year, I didn’t notice any change until I was uploading new photos in November.

Here is an example of one of the pages where the plugin is not behaving the way it was before. https://www.nppnw.org/fall-2017/ Each of the photos on that page have a full title in the Title field, but it’s not showing up. On this page: https://www.nppnw.org/fall-2018/ I put the titles into the alt-text field and they show up the way I wanted them. I hate to think I’m going to have to go back through almost 30 pages of photos to move the title to the alt-text field.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the link. Did you migrate your site from http to https prior to noticing that titles stopped showing in the lightbox? If so, then did you do use a plugin or do a full migration (internal site data changed to support https) to do this? Using a plugin for this may result in an incomplete migration, which can cause a disconnect from your WordPress site’s media library.

Moving from one web host to another can also cause the same issue depending on how the migration is handled.

Please provide details regarding the above, and I will see what the best course of action is.

    Thanks.

I know now I should have made a seperate topic. Sorry!

I found a solution for me, after trying a lot (changing Theme, deactivation Plugins, new installation of Plugin,…).

I changed to https, so I had to change in general settings the URLs to https://www.linktomywebsi.te

    Now it works again.

    Thanks Archetyped!

After reading vollweggn’s reply on how he resolved his issue, I found I had the same issue. I’ve started using Cloudflare to make my site https, but I didn’t change it in the settings to https. All is well now.
