• Hi Ajay – Since upgrading I have lost the titles for Top 10 items in the Popular Posts widget.

    When I look at the code output for the titles it looks like this:

    <span class=”tptn_title”>…</span>

    (ie it just displays elipses).

    However one of them displays a small excerpt eg:

    <span class=”tptn_title”>Hi guys long time no see! Today we…</span>

    Is there a way to regenerate these titles? Is this affecting only me?

    @jlev00, Can you try adding in a new widget and see if you have this issue? I don’t notice that on any of my sites, but it might be a case specific to some settings that is causing this.

    The ellipses is generated when the title is too long and can’t be cut up so wondering if that is an issue. Worth checking the setting for the Title Length in the main settings page as well.

    @softfully, Not sure I understand the issue

    Just a thought before I try it,…. the affected titles are all in Japanese, which is one continugous block of text (ie no space between words). Not sure if it’s “rounding” it down to zero perhaps? Though this would be slightly different to how it worked previously.

    Will do some testing and let you know what I discover.

    Ok, I think it’s because there are no spaces in my titles 🙂

    When I insert a space it displays up to the space, and then ellipses.

    I’m not quite sure how the Settings relate to the data displayed in the widget. There is a “Limit post title length (in characters)” field which I have set to 60 but it seems to make no difference, possibly due to the fact that I have no spaces in my titles.

    Incidentally, Japanese (and Chinese) will never generally have spaces in their titles.

    Would like to hear your thoughts. I haven’t looked at the code yet but will take a look shortly.

    Save changes doesn’t work in Top 10 Settings from dashboard.

    @jlev00,
    It’s because of the Japanese script and lack of spaces. I implemented something different for another plugin (Contextual Related Posts) and I’ll implement these for this plugin as well.

    @softfully,
    Assume you have a similar issue as this thread? If so, can we move the discussion there as this thread is a different issue.
