    Hi,

“Display info by default” is set to yes, when you click on any thumbnail and lightbox shows up, you can see title & description but once you move to the next or prev. picture it disappears and cannot be enabled by clicking (i) underneath. Checked on the latest firefox & ie11.

My another concern – not a big issue though – is how to change the default compression level to lower. Uploading pictures of sizes around 1600×1200, their file sizes after internal conversion to nearly the same size grows like 2-3 times in some cases.

    Thanks

    @tsf999,

Please make sure to upload images no larger than 1024px at longest side. The thing is that since images are large and it takes time to load, the description doesn’t get normally displayed and cause the second issue as well. Please create a gallery with lower dimension images and check whether the issue is resolved or not. Thanks.

    OK here’s the sample gallery:
    http://telesfor99.org/index.php/sample-photos/

First 3 images of 1024x size, last one (snow) 1600x (largest possible to upload as per settings, come on – with fullHD screens it’s a reasonable size). Description only displayed when click a thumbnail first. Moving to previous / next would break it.

Now regarding file sizes: they grow 3x by adding a little watermark, here are the sizes before & after (last one is the 1600px):

    __P1020850.jpg	115,972	393,214
     __P1030057.jpg	68,433	253,100
     __P1030862.jpg	87,141 320,93
     __P1030943.jpg	176,656	633,424

So this doesn’t depend on the picture resolution. Would be good if the compression quality you’re using could be controlled from the settings.

But the strangest thing comes now. Say I messed up with watermarks / editing photos so I do a “bulk action” –> RESET. I would expect to get back original pictures that were stored in the .original subdirectory but… they look original while they grew 8x in size!!! Now we have 3.5M in place of 430k. This definitely is a bug and would be great if you could address it. Notice that files originally stored on the server when I added them were not processed / same as originals.

    __P1020850.jpg 1,181,329
    __P1030057.jpg 862,393
    __P1030862.jpg 1,000,554
    __P1030943.jpg 629,362

    So to summarize, 3 issues:
    1. Description not displayed when scrolled to the next photo
    2. File size growth when adding watermark / can’t control the jpeg quality
    3. Resetting to originals – very strange behavior, 8x file size growth

I left the very original pictures on the server so you can download and try, but I’m pretty sure it’s same with any photos.

    regards,
    Peter

    Hi @tsf999 and @kangyooni!

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier.

    1. Description not displayed when scrolled to the next photo

Firstly, regarding this problem, this is not a general bug, so unfortunately we are not able to suggest a solution without taking a look. Could you guys contact our team using this form?

Make sure to indicate the link to this forum topic in your message. We will publish the solution after taking a look.

    2. File size growth when adding watermark / can’t control the jpeg quality

We will add quality options for future updates of Photo Gallery plugin. Hope you don’t mind waiting for this release.

    3. Resetting to originals – very strange behavior, 8x file size growth

And lastly, for original images, please note, that they are larger than the modified versions, which you have on your gallery. Resetting restores their original versions.

    Thanks! Have a wonderful day!

Have you really tried it? I did and and this is very weird – they are not simply copied but somehow processed so they grow 8 times!

    Best regards

    Hello @tsf999!

Thanks for dropping us a line, we’ll check the problem and publish the provided solution under this thread.

As for the enlarged image sizes, I guess this is strange, indeed, if your original images aren’t that large. I’ll ask the development team to take a look at this as well.

    Cheers!

    Hey guys!

Regarding the problem of titles and descriptions, this turned out to be a bug in Photo Gallery plugin. There was a conflict when Effect Duration option was set to a decimal number.

This will be resolved in 1.3.41 version of the plugin.
Thank you! Have a great day!
