Support » Fixing WordPress » Title Tags appearing twice with SEO from Yoast

  • I’ve recently started using WordPress SEO from Yoast and believe it’s a great plugin.

    But now my title tags are appearing twice, and the name of my site is duplicated (shown below)

    The Sideline Agenda – The Sideline Agenda – Sports | Fast-paced. Dynamic. Global

    I’ve inserted the title code that has been suggested elsewhere:

    <title><?php wp_title(”); ?></title>

    And I’ve also tried the force re-write option within the Yoast settings

    But neither have worked

    Any help out there please??

    what theme are you using?

    what it the meta <title> tag code in header.php?

    This is the code from the first part of the header.php file

    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <html xmlns=”” <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
    <meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”<?php bloginfo(‘html_type’); ?>; charset=<?php bloginfo(‘charset’); ?>” />
    <meta http-equiv=”X-UA-Compatible” content=”IE=edge,chrome=1″>

    <title><?php wp_title(”); ?></title>

    <link rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” href=”<?php bloginfo(‘stylesheet_url’); ?>” media=”screen” />

    <link rel=”pingback” href=”<?php bloginfo(‘pingback_url’); ?>” />

    <?php wp_head(); ?>

    <!–[if IE 7 ]><link rel=”stylesheet” type=”text/css” href=”<?php bloginfo(‘template_url’); ?>/ie7.css” /><![endif]–>

    Does that provide any help?
    Apologies for my ignorance, I’m a raw beginner with HTML.

    Theme is Sportpress 2.1.2

    as the output seems to come directly from the seo plugin, you need to double-check your settings and entries;

    if you suspect a problem with the seo plugin, possibly post in the direct support section
