Title and Meta Description formats for normal posts and custom post types

My site is a recipe site. I have the standard posts and also have a custom post type where i post regular articles.
The standard posts are all recipes so i have defined the default post title as <post title> recipe.
The same is also carried over the custom post type. Right now i define the title in the title tag rewriter (for old articles) or mention them at the time of posting them.
What i would like to know is whether is it possible to define Page title and Meta Description formats for the standard posts and custom post types?
