Tired of hacking WP-themes? Now you can easily create the layouts you want.

I have been building websites since the days of Microsoft FrontPage and Macromedia Dreamweaver. I continue to build websites, but now use WordPress exclusively. Since I’m not a programmer, the hardest part is finding a pre-built theme close enough to my desired outcome. From there, I can hack the CSS and some PHP to achieve the end result. However, it’s never exactly what I want – so I have to live with compromises.

Then I came across a company that was providing functionality to custom build WP layouts, which got my mind interested in the possibilities. I researched several other custom builders, but they all have monthly fees, or premium versions – which really isn’t free after all.

Then I came across Live Composer. Since then I have built two full websites using only Live Composer, and am about to start a new one.

Here’s what I like:

* No premium version available. No gimmicks and games to get me to upgrade. No limited features.

* Mobile Responsive. We can’t build websites in tables anymore, and since I’m not a CSS genius, this functionality was very important to me.

* Open source so other programmers can add to it, or pick up the baton on this endeavor.

* Create the design the way you want it via drag and drop.

What was a learning curve:

* Figuring out how the layout worked and how to move things around.

* Figuring out what all the layout options did, and how to use them.

What I don’t like:

* I honestly don’t have a bad thing to say about the plug-in. It simply works. The learning curve took some time, but that’s true for using any new product with this level of functionality.
