Can you provide advice on how to get this structure to work? It uses the name of the CPT, then the taxonomy name itself, and then the taxonomy term that was chosen, and then the name of the actual post slug.

    /cpt_slug/taxonomy_slug/taxonomy_term/post_name

    E.g.,

    /writing/books/thriller/the-institute

    Hi @freshyjon,

Thank you for your message. You can only use CTP slug.

So, /cpt_slug/post_name is the best it can do? There is no way to pull in the taxonomy name or the term name? If that’s the case, I’m not sure there’s a benefit to using this for CPT then.

Tell me please have you read the plugin description? What would you really like to achieve?

I like the Custom Post Type > Single Term (or Term tree) > Post option, but would like to also add the Taxonomy Name to the permalink too (as mentioned in my original post)

This is not possible. This would not make sense from the perspective of the tree structure for permalinks.

I respectfully disagree. I think it makes sense. Especially if you had multiple taxonomy within a custom post type.

    /writing/books/thriller/the-institute

    /writing/books/biography/steve-jobs

    /writing/magazines/automotive/car-and-driver

    /writing/magazines/gaming/electronic-gaming-monthly

The plugin supports one taxonomy for one type of content. In the settings it is impossible to select multiple taxonomies for one Custom Post Type.

You must know that the plugin is universal. In principle, it should work for as many users as possible. If I added a Taxonomy prefix, it would have to be everywhere, and most users don’t want it. Many taxonomies for one CPT are rather an exception.

    Do you understand me?

However, I would like to help you, so I have suggestions on what you can do. writing is your Custom Post Type. Please create one taxonomy and then books and magazines will be terms.

thriller and biography as well as automotive and gaming will be nested terms.

Then you will achieve exactly what you plan to do. And the additional benefit will be that you can someday add the third term next to books andmagazines. If this would be the taxonomies from the CMS you do not.

Thanks! That is my planned workaround for now. I still do prefer taxonomy be separate, instead of nested terms, but I do understand that’s the way to do it if I want the proper permalink I mentioned.
