Hello. I really like this plugin and have used it on a lot of sites I build.

Lately I have been seeing a sporadic problem come up. Where all of a sudden on certain pages the WYSIWYG editor doesn’t show up, and all the text in the editor window is white HTML code (can only see if I select text). When this happens I can’t switch from visual to text using the top tabs. The page seems to show up fine from the front end, just editing screen is messed up. If I delete all the text in the page and update it will come back. So that makes me think it is the content that is messing it up, but can’t figure out what content causes the problem because it has happened on different sites with different content. The only common item is usually they have a shortcode in the content, but not always. If I disable the plugin the page comes back fine without editing at all.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Any idea what the problem might be? I’ve tried to disable other plugins and change themes, but have the same result.

    Thanks for any help.

Are there errors in the browser console?

When you see “white HTML code (can only see if I select text)” it means TinyMCE has failed to initialize. This can be caused by several things, most commonly missing/wrong URLs to plugin or translation file (shows as 404 error in the console), or other JS errors on the page.

    Thanks for the response Andrew.
Actually that was the first thing I checked to see if it was a theme issue or something else. The console doesn’t show any errors, but obviously is not initializing in those instances. And it is weird that it will only happen on a few select pages on occasion.

The next time it happens I will try to dig further to see if I can figure out the issue. Maybe I’ll try disabling a few of the added buttons from the configuration screen, to see if that changes anything. I will share my results.

    Thanks for your help.

Sure, anything that can help diagnosing it. Glad all is working as expected now.
