• Well, I did search through the forums but nothing really answered my question…

Has there been a fix for when your blog gets pinged when you save/publish a post for the future? If it’s 5:00 p.m. and I want my post to be schedule for 7:00 p.m. when does the post actually get pinged, at 5:00 or 7:00 like I want it to?

Also, I can’t figure out how to tell the Timestamp whether I want my post to be a.m. or p.m.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

  • Second question first: Use 24 hr clock. (for times after noon, just add 12. So 5pm becomes 17).

First question: not that I’m aware of.

CharlesKrause had some thoughts in this very recent thread: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/76141?replies=3

Should mention my own work-around I suppose.

I use Feedburner for my RSS feeds. Part of the (free) offering from them is “PingShot” which will notify a pile of services when a new post is detected. As FB seems to check about every 30 minutes or so, my future-dated posts get picked up by it AND all the usual services are pinged with no muss or fuss.

hmm, well I just tried putting in 12 : 00 but it is changing the timestamp to something like 6 : 45.

so this pinging issue is a real problem if you are a commercial site. what can be done about it?

just saw your post. also, what if you are constantly tweaking the time… won’t pigomatic think you are spamming?

tweaking the time? Well no – I like to NOT change my server time. Changing a posts “publish time”? Why? Once it is up I have no desire to make it go away again.

well, i’m talking about if i want to post in the future at 5:00 originally in Timestamp but change my mind that i want it to post at 6:00 and change it again to post at 7:00 i’m not sending pings am i?

hey Solo, also do you know if you have local setup if that pings also? i do a lot of testing on my local machine and hit publish a lot so I don’t want to have unecessary pings.

    thanks for you patience.
