# Timeout on WP 4.8 Update

 * I’ve attempted to update to 4.8 numerous times and the install continues to either
   timeout. It shows the updating circle icon rotation, however, never completes
   no matter how long I leave it for.
 * Have attempted deactivating plugins.
 * Any ideas on a fix?

 * Thanks mate.
 * Now I have an issue even deactivating plugins on my WP admin page… continues 
   to time out in the same way the WP install / update does.
 * Can I deactivate plugins through my host ftp access?

 * Yes, you can.
    If you via ftp rename the folder name of a plugin, then it will
   deactivate.
