• Greetings
Over the past hour, I have been searching for a plugin or solution that allows me to link timeline events with maps but have been unable to find one.
The ideal plugin would be a google maps plugin with pins showing my locations and a horizontal timeline below it.
As this is a site featuring historical heritage sites, the user will be able to select a range of years from the timeline and see what heritage sites were built/used during that period.
The user will see 10 pin locations on a map if he selects a year range from 1509- 1600, for instance. Selecting the years 1700 to 1720 will show him 3 locations in that range, etc.

Let me know if anyone knows of such a plugin, or two plugins that can be combined to accomplish this

An example of what I am trying to do is as found at this site:

  • Hey,

This sounds like an exciting project 🙂 What you’re describing is kind of like a store locator, and there are likely many plugins you can use to accomplish that part.

The timeline element is more unique and unfortunately I can’t think of a plugin that does this specifically.

A possible workaround would be to create a new page for each period of time, and include a map with the relevant pins in each page. You’d then just need to link them all together with a menu.

Yes, it is a nice, interesting project. I’m helping a friend who hired another developer to do something and it did not turn out as expected.

This is a great idea, so we can create a menu using something like maxmegamenu, but with a timeline look. Brilliant, let me try it.
